Social scientist, Thandi Makoko has led the youth centre leadership for eleven years. With paradigm shift thinking she has pioneered fresh and successful approaches to youth development centre development, placing emphasis on a multi-facetted and sustainable model that reaches out to youth in conflict with the law.  She has overseen the application of her vision expand from one centre in Gauteng to nine in five provinces. 

Makoko has a B.A. Social Science (Social Work) (UNIN, Limpopo), an Honors Degree in Probation and Correctional Practice (UCT) and a Masters Degree in Social Work (UCT). [Research: Dissertation, Experimental World of Children awaiting trial in Bosasa Youth Development Centres.]
