Originally modeled on a similar project in Birmingham United Kingdom, it became clear that South Africa required its own solutions, based on its unique circumstances. Job Centre Trust is pioneering an international association engaged in similar activities for the sharing of experiences and successes. An international monitoring and evaluation kit is being established for this reason.
JCT aims to fill scientific research gaps necessary for the successful rehabilitation and socio- economic reintegration of offenders. It will focus on youth (17-35) where frustrations and aspirations are highest. Though current research has identified the main barriers to the access employment, there is little data available on those factors which will enable easier entry into the market. Current effective research focuses on the interface of job creation and skills transfer.
